TradeReview publishes guides about journaling, risk and reviewing trades, comparisons of trading journals, and free calculators. This page explains how that content is written, sourced, checked and corrected. It applies to everything under /blog/, /compare/, /trading-journal/ and /free-trading-calculators/.
Who writes our content
Articles are written and edited by the TradeReview team — the people who build the TradeReview trading journal. Guest articles carry the guest author's name and a short bio in place of our byline. TradeReview is journaling software, not a broker or an adviser, and nothing we publish is financial advice; see our Disclaimer.
How we source facts
- Primary sources first. Contract specifications come from the exchange, platform behaviour from the broker's or vendor's own help pages, rules from the regulator, and research findings from the paper itself. We link the source next to the claim.
- No unsourced statistics. If we cannot trace a number to a primary source, we leave it out rather than quote a figure from a blog or a vendor's marketing page.
- Dated prices and features. Prices, plan limits and features of other products are checked on that product's own website, and the page states the date they were checked. They change often, so confirm them before you subscribe.
How we check numbers
- Worked examples are recalculated before publishing — position sizes, R-multiples, profit and loss, drawdowns and break-even rates.
- One definition per metric. Win rate, R-multiple, expectancy and drawdown are defined the same way across the site, and the same way the TradeReview app calculates them.
- Calculators show their formulas. Each calculator page states the formula or model it uses and a worked example you can reproduce by hand. The equity curve simulator's model and assumptions are listed on its page.
Comparisons and our own product
TradeReview is our product, and our comparison pages say so. We compare on criteria a trader can check — price, free-plan limits, import methods, platforms and review features — and we state where a competitor is the better choice. Comparison pages contain no affiliate links to other journals.
Updates and dates
Each article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. We change the "updated" date only when the content changes in substance — new facts, corrected figures or rewritten sections — not for spelling fixes or layout changes.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong number, an outdated price, a broken source link — email [email protected] with the page address. We check every report, fix confirmed errors, and update the page's date when the correction changes its substance.
What we never do
- Publish a statistic we cannot source.
- Present a sponsored or guest article as our own.
- Promise returns or present trading results as typical.
